Grand Parentage DNA Test
Grand Parentage DNA testing can help you answer nagging questions about your family relationships.
A Grand Parentage test can determine whether a child is biologically related to a set of grandparents. The test is often performed when a child’s alleged father is unavailable for paternity testing. Grand Parentage test results may be used as proof in , Heirship cases, Social Security benefit and other inheritance claims as well as in some immigration cases.
Grand Parentage DNA test is based on the fact that a child inherits half of his or her genetic profile from each biological parent. When one of a child’s parents is missing or deceased, we can look to the grandparents to determine if they contributed DNA to the child’s genetic profile (presumably through the missing or deceased alleged parent).
Tested Parties
A standard Grand Parentage test, involves the child, the Grandmother, Grandfather and Mother of child. The mother’s participation is encouraged to expedite analysis; motherless Grand Parentage tests take longer to complete because of the extended analysis required.
By contributing a DNA sample, the mother assists the testing process.
